Ah. That was unique.
Over the course of this weekend I attended what will be my last year at Aki Con.
This year, the artists were walked out, stuck out in a cold, dark, dripping parking garage with buckets hanging from the cieling. And mold.
With plug strips as our only power source. Plug strips that were being dripped on from above.
Someone could have been electrocuted. Fires could have started. People could have died.
It was unsafe, unhealthy, and disgusting.
I got sick from it on my first day, and for what?
Barely breaking even on a table that I scared with my friend, while she lost money on all the prints she made.
Her prints were destroyed, warped from the humidity and the cold.
Many other artists stuck in this awful environment got sick, and they only had to pay 75 dollars plus registration to get ill.
Aki Con is ran by money grabbing little monsters, who were booted from SakuraCon for selling bootleg items.
(Which reminds me, there were bootlegs in the dealers hall.)
They are greedy and disgusting. For more information, refer to the feedback thread.
But get there quick, before they delete and sweep this all under the rug!
SPREAD THE WORD. Aki Con is a scam con, focused only on making profit, they do not care at all for their attendees, their artists, or their dealers.
Even now, I am having trouble grasping what I was just put through.
A lot dealers just went home sunday, either too sick, or knowing that keeping it up was pointless.
Like I said... Read the thread, spread the word, boycott Aki.
